Miss you today…

Funny how days are different from each other,
Yesterday work was keeping me covered,
Today though there’s not much else I can think about,
Watching you smile or move your mouth like a trout.

Today it turns out your head got a bit bigger,
Must be mental development, stimulation the trigger,
On your playmat you seem to be happy as larry,
Your look to one side, brain too big to carry.

They say cherish these first speeding hours and weeks,
Even those moments with sicked up milk on your cheeks,
I know now what they mean, time passes like lightning,
And I’m missing big minutes of things bright and shining.

Four hours of mind numbing, digital clock watching,
I expect all your doing is sleeping and noshing,
Still what would I give to stare at your head,
Or sway holding you, singing bad songs instead.
